Qi Gong means “Stretching and Breathing”, and it’s just that – slow gentle movements designed to stimulate the flow of the blood and lymph fluids around the body and to deepen the intake of oxygen, all of which strengthen the immune system. In addition the different movements help maintain flexibility, gradually and over time improving overall health.
Tai Chi is the gentle, yet powerful martial art which not only teaches self-defence but also brings mind and body together into greater harmony. Over time members learn the most popular form of Tai Chi world-wide, the so-called “24 Step” which was specifically designed to be easy to learn, and effective in maintaining health. There are a range of health benefits that combine to deliver greater wellbeing, no matter what your own starting point. As long as you can stand and move for the duration of the class there will be benefits – as long as you attend on a reasonably regular basis.
The following link will take you to the Chorleywood u3a website page for the group where you will find details of the various classes, the venues and the latest calendar.
