Starting Wednesday 1st April 16.15 to 17.15, 8th April, 15th April, 22nd April, 29th April. 

Yoga is a physical activity and, as with any form of exercise, there is a risk of injury. While every effort will be made to provide a safe, gentle, and supportive environment, participation is entirely at your own discretion.

A Registered yoga teacher (London Yoga) will be leading the sessions. She will be focusing on Chair Based Yoga which includes seated movements and also standing and using the chair for support.

Cost: Fees payable in advance which will be calculated on the basis of the number of sessions available in each month.  So £20 for a 4 Wednesday month and £25 for a 5 Wednesday week for all members.  There is no reduction for the occasional missed session.  The fees are fixed  for the Hall and the Teacher and we require an average of 16 fully paid up members to cover our costs; our maximum capacity is 17 per session. Members can opt out of one month only on payment of a £10 retainer fee.  Otherwise the member reverts to the waiting list.  For absences of more than one month members will automatically revert to the waiting list.

Equipment:  You will need a suitable yoga mat and a towel that can be rolled up and a block if you have one. A low yoga block and brick may be useful but the Teacher can go through these. Also a non stretch belt like a dressing gown belt. Leggings/loose trousers, a long tee shirt and a warm top would work well. There is a need to prevent slips and trips with appropriate footwear - yoga is often in bare feet but if you prefer foot covering there are yoga socks with toe to heel slip prevention. Do bring some water although there is a kitchen available if needed for water etc. 

 

Health Questionnaire: The teacher has a health questionnaire that needs to be completed prior to you joining the group and before you start. This way the teacher can tailor the session to suit member’s conditions. This completed questionnaire will be given to and held confidentially by the teacher. 

It is important that you disclose medical conditions and make the teacher aware of mobility issues. It would also be helpful for her to know whether you have practiced/are currently practicing yoga and what other sports you take part in, including walking/swimming.

There are lists of conditions that might need special care with yoga positions. These include osteoporosis, glaucoma, hyper mobility, long term conditions such as hypertension, balance problems, joint problems, pain. This is not an exhaustive list.

In completing the questionnaire please state any medical issues, concerns or injuries that the teacher should be made aware of. If you are suffering from any condition or injury that could adversely be affected by yoga practice you should first check with your doctor. During the class you should not continue with a posture if you feel any pain or push yourself beyond your ability - listen to your body and work within your limitations and you can rest at any time. The teacher is trained to professional standards. Whilst fully insured to teach, please be aware that you undertake classes at your own risk.

Any subsequent health issues needs to be updated with the teacher.
